Bitter Lake Reservoir Covering Project
Review Status
On February 16, 2023, we had a briefing on the Bitter Lake Reservoir Covering Project. The team presented their project at the 30% Schematic stage. The SDC unanimously voted 9 to 0 to approve the concept design phase. We will conduct another review when the project reaches the 60% completion milestone.
Project Description
The Bitter Lake Covering Improvement Project is a capital improvement project focused on improving the Bitter Lake Reservoir and enhancing community open space. The project is a partnership between SPU (Seattle Public Utilities) and SPR (Seattle Parks and Recreation), with separate scopes for each entity that will be reviewed independently by the commission.
SPU's scope of work involves the design, engineering, and construction of a new 21 MG (million-gallon) concrete reservoir and covering. This portion of the project is dedicated to enhancing the functionality and infrastructure of the reservoir.
