Make your voice matter in Seattle's elections

The Democracy Voucher Program empowers Seattle residents to participate in local elections and reduces barriers to running for office by providing a funding source.

What is a Democracy Voucher?
The City of Seattle provides Democracy Vouchers to residents. Democracy Vouchers are certificates valued at $25 each that Seattle residents use to donate to local campaigns.

Which candidates can receive Democracy Vouchers?
This program is optional for candidates. Candidates who participate in the program can accept your vouchers. Democracy Vouchers can be donated to participating candidates running for City Council, City Attorney, or Mayor in Seattle.

When is the next City of Seattle election?
The next City of Seattle election is in 2024. Democracy Vouchers can be used from March 12, 2024 through November 29, 2024.

You can get Democracy Vouchers if you are:

  • A Seattle resident,
  • At least 18 years of age, and
  • A U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident.

You do not have to be a registered voter to receive Democracy Vouchers. If you meet the criteria listed above, you may apply to receive vouchers.
