Climate Action Plan
In April 2018, Mayor Jenny A. Durkan released an updated Seattle climate strategy to reduce carbon pollution from our transportation and building sectors and make Seattle a national leader in fighting climate change. The strategy is a set of short- and long-term actions that provide a roadmap for our City to act in the absence of federal leadership, particularly on leading contributors of greenhouse gases: transportation and buildings.
The Seattle Climate Action Plan, adopted in June 2013, focuses on city actions that reduce greenhouse emissions and also support vibrant neighborhoods, economic prosperity, and social equity. Actions are focused on areas of greatest need and impact: road transportation, building energy and waste. The plan also includes actions that will increase our community's resilience to the likely impacts of climate change.
