Safer Speeds

Safer Speeds

Speed is a leading determinant of the severity of crashes. A person walking, rolling, or biking has a significantly better chance of surviving a crash at lower vehicle speeds.

Key Strategies

  • Apply context-sensitive speed limit reductions on City and State-operated roadways.
  • Encourage slower speeds using traffic calming treatments and road reconfigurations.
  • Equitably expand traffic safety cameras on high-speed corridors.
