COMMISSIONER VACANCY

The Seattle City Council is seeking candidates interested in serving as a civil service commissioner beginning in 2024. Qualified candidates are invested in consistent and fair administration of the City's employment systems and ensuring that employees understand their rights and can access civil service processes. This position relates to the City's civilian civil service (not public safety) system, as authorized by City Charter.

Candidates with an employment law background, familiarity with City of Seattle's public safety civil service system and/or Seattle's Race and Social Justice Initiative are encouraged to apply. The CSC meets monthly, and conducts hearings as needed. Commissioners receive a stipend for their work ($200/pay period). Retired and former employees are encouraged to apply, current employees are not eligible for appointment for this seat on the Civil service Commission.
