What's Happening Now?

Project Update (August 2021): This work has been completed.

Community Benefits

  • The repairs will improve electrical reliability and aid crews in responding quicker to unplanned outages in the Hawthorne Hills area.

Anticipated Impacts

  • Scheduled planned outages are required during this work. Affected customers will receive a door hanger with the date, time and duration of the outage.
  • Planned power outages are important to maintaining and upgrading our infrastructure. Planned outages are necessary to ensure that City Light crews can complete their work in a safe, efficient manner. We understand that outages can be burdensome, and even more so as our customers are at home working, teaching children, and maintaining a healthy life during the COVID-19 crisis.
  • Customers can expect some parking, sidewalk and traffic restrictions during construction. Traffic control flaggers will be used as needed to direct pedestrians and vehicles through the work areas.
  • Some noise is expected during construction.
  • Please be aware that due to the nature of our work maintaining the electrical system, some essential tasks require crew members to work closely together for their safety. We ask that residents continue to adhere to social distancing guidelines when walking near a construction site. The safety of our customers and crews is our number one priority. This work is in accordance with protocols in place to meet all COVID-19 guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Washington State Department of Health, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

  • Construction Start: March 16, 2021
  • Duration: 6 weeks
  • Daily Work Hours: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
