Fairmount Playground Play Area Renovation

Seattle Parks and Recreation opened Fairmount Play area on February 4, 2022.

The renovated play area includes play structures for children ages 2-5 and 5-12. The equipment features multiple slides, overhead ring trek, small net climber, suspension bridge places to hop and balance, plus fun ways to get up and down. The two structures include accessible transfer platforms. Two, new accessible play ramps have been installed. A future pavement renovation project will update adjacent paths to meet current accessibility standards and connect the north play ramp with a new accessible sidewalk.

Budget

Seattle Park District provides $400,000 for planning, design and construction.

Schedule

Planning: Winter - Spring 2019
Design: Spring - Fall 2019
Construction: Fall 2021
Completion: Winter 2021/2022

Project Description

This project will replace the play equipment in the south play area, installed in 1996, and improve accessibility in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The play area will be closed during construction.
