International

The City Council and Mayor appoint individuals to serve on over 70 boards and commissions whose members influence decisions affecting the city by providing advice and feedback on matters including human services, land use, bicycles, civil rights, international affairs, and other issues facing the city of Seattle.

On August 15, 2016, City Council passed Ordinance 125113, which established the Seattle International Affairs Advisory Board (SIAAB) to advise the Mayor, City Council, and OIR about the strategic direction of Seattle's international engagement, including local outreach initiatives, official international travel, and partnerships with foreign cities and other entities, and to interact with City departments to provide feedback on their international engagement programs. The SIAAB also monitors Seattle?s Sister Cities Program.

The SIAAB serves as an advisory board to the Mayor, City Council, and Seattle?s individual Sister City Associations to increase coordination, fundraising, and publicity. The Board meets once every two months for one hour (at City Hall). The composition and responsibilities of SCCC are governed by SMC 3.14.460-470.
