$20 Car Tab Rebate

UPDATE: The Vehicle Licensing Fee Rebate (VLFR) program ended July 2021:
The last day to submit a rebate request on 2020 car tab renewals was June 30, 2021. VLFR applications received after June 30, 2021 will not be processed.

In 2014, City of Seattle voters approved a car tab increase to pay for improved transit service. Car tabs, also known as Vehicle License Fees, increased to $80 per vehicle on June 1, 2015. Income-qualified vehicle owners with a car registered in Seattle were also eligible to receive a $20 rebate in the form of a check through the $20 Vehicle License Fee Rebate (VLFR) program. The legislation allowing for the car tab increase expired on December 31, 2020.

Eligibility: This program was available to Seattle's households at or below 70% of the median State household income, who had cars registered in the City of Seattle, and had a car tab renewal date of June 1, 2015 or later.
