2021 Hands-Only CPR Challenge
The Hands-Only CPR Challenge
Now through May 31, 2021
We challenge you to create your own hands-only CPR video to the tune of your favorite song! Then send it to FireInfo@seattle.gov where our panel of judges will select the top three videos based on the following:
- Correctly demonstrate the step-by-step hands-only CPR techniques when you see someone suddenly collapse:
- Make sure the scene is safe.
- Tap the person on the shoulders and shout, "Are you okay!?!?"
- Check for normal breathing.
- Call 9-1-1 if there's no response from the person that collapsed.
- If someone is around, ask them to get help and find the AED.
- Begin chest compressions.
- 100-120 compressions per minute.
- At least two inches deep.
- This can be performed on a pillow, couch cushion or even an empty water bottle.
- Play your favorite song in the background. If you don't have a favorite song, we recommend Stayin' Alive by the Bee Gees.
- Make sure the scene is safe.
