2021 Hands-Only CPR Challenge

The Hands-Only CPR Challenge

Now through May 31, 2021

We challenge you to create your own hands-only CPR video to the tune of your favorite song! Then send it to FireInfo@seattle.gov where our panel of judges will select the top three videos based on the following:

  • Correctly demonstrate the step-by-step hands-only CPR techniques when you see someone suddenly collapse:
    1. Make sure the scene is safe.
      • Tap the person on the shoulders and shout, "Are you okay!?!?"
      • Check for normal breathing.
    2. Call 9-1-1 if there's no response from the person that collapsed.
      • If someone is around, ask them to get help and find the AED.
    3. Begin chest compressions.
      • 100-120 compressions per minute.
      • At least two inches deep.
      • This can be performed on a pillow, couch cushion or even an empty water bottle.
      • Play your favorite song in the background. If you don't have a favorite song, we recommend Stayin' Alive by the Bee Gees.
