Home Zone: NewHolly

Updated: March, 2023

Current Status

The NewHolly Home Zone has been finalized. Community members were surveyed from October 2022 to February 2023 to gather their thoughts and opinions on the New Holly Draft Home Zone. In order to reach folks of all backgrounds and languages, SDOT partnered with the New Holly based organization HOSTED (Healthy Othello Safer Through Environmental Design). The survey results have been tallied and analyzed by SDOT staff to ensure that the broad community is supportive of the home zone. Constuction will begin in 2023 and continue through 2025.

Background

The Home Zone process in NewHolly was started in the midst of the pandemic. The neighborhood was divided into four quadrants and each quadrant was then walked and assessed by community members with SDOT staff. Thanks to many volunteers, the walking tours were well attended and neighborhood concerns were collected. SDOT worked through the concerns with the steering committee and developed a draft Home Zone map. SDOT will be working with the steering committee to develop the community survey which will turn the draft into a final Home Zone.
