Mayor Nickels' Message:
London Bombing
Dear Friends:
This statement went to the media this morning:
"The citizens of Seattle extend our heartfelt sympathies to the people of London who are suffering the tragic loss of innocent lives after a terrorist bombing this morning.
"While there is no specific threat to the City of Seattle, I have instructed our police, fire and other city departments to increase our public security efforts. Citizens will see an increase in uniformed officers at transportation facilities and are asked to call 9-1-1 if they see any suspicious behavior or packages. We are getting regular updates from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and coordinating information with regional and state officials."
I know that you join me in this time of concern, and we will keep you informed as necessary. Let us keep the citizens of London in our thoughts.
Sincerely,
GREG NICKELS
Mayor of Seattle
