Report on Clean Seattle Initiative

 

Clean & Green Seattle / 2009 Lake Union Sweep

South Lake Union Park - On Saturday, May 9, 2009, Operations Chief Ken Nakatsu, on behalf of Mayor Greg Nickels, led more than two-hundred and seventy five (275) volunteers in kayaks and other small boats as they removed litter and debris from the surface and shore of Lake Union. The event is in its the seventh year. (Mayor Nickels has attended five times.) Clean & Green Seattle is an ongoing sponsor. Seattle's "Restore Our Waters" program is a new partner. Adobe, Brown Bear Car Wash, Floating Homes Association, Kenmore Air, NW Yacht Brokers Association, REI, Seattle Parks Foundation, Seattle Parks & Recreation, The Center for Wooden Boats and Vulcan Real Estate participated.

Seattle Parks and Recreation, the Department of Corrections and Seattle Public Utilities also assisted in the effort.
