Current Neighborhood Power Project: Green Lake/Wallingford

  Southeast Seattle Accomplishments:
 
  • Increased safety: 150 volunteers delivered 1,420 energy-efficient porch lights to their neighbors. Energy savings from these light bulbs helped the project exceed savings goals by 125%.
  • 138 households received home energy audits to find ways to save resources and lower their utility bills.
  • Energy-efficient lighting installed in 40 small businesses.
  • Saved nearly $30,000 on utility bills.
  • Planted 120 trees in Brighton and Rainier Beach.
  • Created two high school plays about conservation. Cleveland High School students performed for local elementary school students, and Rainier Beach High School students performed for their school and for the community.
  Resources Saved:
  • Enough Electricity to Power 55 Homes:
    • From Southeast Seattle residences -- 269,425 kilowatt hours/year
    • From Southeast Seattle small businesses -- 310,400 kilowatt hours/year
  • Enough Water to Supply 16 Homes:
    • 2,340 gallons per day from Southeast Seattle residents
