Veterans Preference
The City of Seattle gives Veterans’ preference. In the state of Washington, to be eligible for Veterans’ preference an individual must have been released from Active duty within the last eight years and have served during a time of war/conflict or have been awarded an armed forces expeditionary medal.

The following is added to the passing mark, grade or rating only, based upon a possible rating of one hundred points as a percentage in accordance with the following:

  1. Ten percent to a Veteran who is not receiving any Veterans retirement payments.

  2. Five percent to a Veteran who is receiving Veterans retirement payments.
