For Domestic Violence Survivors and their Family, Friends and Co-workers

As part of our effort to support the safety and well-being of adults and children who are victims of domestic violence, the Seattle Human Services Department supports a number of programs in collaboration with our community partners.

Victims of domestic violence and their children are among the most vulnerable in our community. The City of Seattle started funding assistance to survivors of domestic violence in 1978. Our current programs emphasize victim services and shelter. More than 1,500 women and children are helped by these programs each year.

  • How to Get Help explains the range of services available to victims of domestic violence and their children.

  • Safe, Confidential Housing describes the types of emergency and transitional housing available to victims of domestic violence and their children.

  • How to Help provides information for family, friends and co-workers of someone experiencing domestic violence.

  • Domestic Violence Frequently Asked Questions contains facts and answers to frequently asked questions about domestic violence to help survivors and their family, friends and co-workers.
