Support for Business Districts

Introduction

Welcome to OED's Neighborhood Business District web page. OED's Neighborhood Business District Program promotes a healthy business environment for neighborhood business districts and business organizations, and is designed to help grow and strengthen the business community in its respective neighborhoods. OED funds projects and activities to improve business districts, including capital improvements, farmers markets, and training for business group members. Other aspects of the program include:

  • Workshops to help strengthen Seattle 's business districts.
  • Collaboration with other City Departments and the State of Washington to problem-solve and provide tools for success.
  • OED funding for neighborhood business district projects through an annual Request For Proposals.
  • A publication entitled Create a Thriving Business District Guide, providing resources for making improvements in Seattle business districts.
  • Technical assistance to help neighborhoods form and maintain a Business Improvement Area ( BIA)
  • Website development assistance- Accepting applications now; deadline March 7, 2008.
  • Speakers available to address your business group membership meetings about OED’s services.
  • Support for efforts to create a strong business district.
