The Seattle Residential Code (SRC) provides minimum requirements for design and construction of single-family houses, duplexes, and townhouses with no more than three stories and separate entrances. Seattle has adopted the 2009 International Residential Code, with amendments specific to our jurisdiction.
Requirements for design and construction of all other buildings are found in the Seattle Building Code.
A proposed new edition of the code will take effect in fall 2013. To dig deeper, go to our 2012 Building Code Update page.
