Wolf Saar
Position: Community Representative

Wolf Saar Design Review Board

Wolf Saar has 25 years of experience practicing architecture in Seattle on both public and private projects and has often participated in the design review process, both as an applicant and as a resident. He is a senior project manager at Weber Thompson and has helped design five high-rise projects in downtown. Before that, he worked at Mithun, leading the design of institutional, commercial and multifamily projects. He has served as a board member on the Washington State University Architectural Advisory Board and the American Institute of Architects. He is a registered architect and a LEED professional. He earned a BS and BA in Architecture and a certificate in Design Firm Leadership from the University of Washington.

 

Evan Bourquard
Position: Design Professional Representative

Evan Bourquard is currently a project architect for the Schacht Aslani Architects, a Seattle based architecture firm that works primarily on public and institutional projects. He also worked for several architecture and engineering firms in Boston, MA. He served as the Get Engaged member of the Seattle Design Commission in 2006-07, and has also managed projects for Architects Without Borders Seattle. He also regularly critiques design studios at the University of Washington architecture school. He holds a masters degree in architecture from the University of Washington and a bachelors degree in structural engineering from Tufts University.

 

Lisa Picard
Position: Development Representative

Lisa Picard Design Review Board

Lisa Picard is a practicing real estate development professional and managing partner of Muse Development. Previously, she directed development operations of Canyon Ranch Health Resorts, Harbor Properties, Hines Interests and the Community of Civano, AZ. She also worked as an investment manager and as an urban designer. She is a certified urban planner (AICP). She holds Masters degrees in Real Estate Development and in Urban Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a BS in urban planning from the California Polytechnic University.

 


Sharon E. Sutton
Position: Local Residential Representative
Term: Second
Term expires: April 4, 2011
 

Sharon E. Sutton is Professor of Architecture and Director of the Center for Environment Education and Design Studies at the University of Washington. She was president of the National Architectural Accrediting Board and has served on numerous design juries, including the P/A Awards in Architectural and Urban Design and the Presidential Awards in Architectural Design. She has also served on the Seattle Design Commission and the Seattle Women's Commission, and is currently a member of the Swedish Hospital Citizen's Advisory Committee. She is a registered architect, a Fellow of American Institute of Architects, and a Distinguished Professor of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture. Among her degrees are a Master of Architecture from Columbia University, a PhD in Psychology from the City University of New York, and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Hartford.

 


Brian Cavanaugh

Brian Cavanaugh is owner/principal of ARCHITECTURE Brian Cavanaugh. Prior to establishing his own practice, he worked for internationally renowned design firms in Los Angeles, Boston, and New Zealand. The work he has been associated with has won numerous design awards - including local and state design awards from the American Institute of Architects - and has been published throughout the world and exhibited at such institutions as the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C., the Harvard Graduate School of Design, and the Van Alen Institute in New York. In addition, he has taught at Victoria University of Wellington, the University of Southern California, the Boston Architectural Center, Woodbury University, and the Otis College of Art & Design, and have been a guest critic at a number of academic institutions. He received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Oregon and studied at the Mackintosh School of Architecture in Glasgow, Scotland. He also received a Master of Architecture degree from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design. He is a licensed architect in California, Oregon, and Washington; and is NCARB certified.

Join the Design Review Board
In April 2010, the Mayor and City Council will appoint twelve new volunteer Design Review Board members to replace those retiring members whose terms are expiring. Applications are due December 10, 2009 for two-year terms that begin April 4, 2010. A list of the upcoming openings is in the appendix of the Design Review Board application.
