Jail Locations and Visitations

The City of Seattle contracts with multiple providers of jail services to house inmates convicted with a Municipal Court of Seattle misdemeanor. Inmates may be housed in King County, Yakima County, or Renton City jail facilities. Currently, the King County Jail system holds the majority of Municipal Court of Seattle inmates. The City is presently working on reducing the use of the King County Jail facilities and is sending a larger misdemeanant population to the Yakima County Jail System. Renton's City Jail is used for short term durations only.
