BrynDel Swift was born in Seattle and grew up in Bellingham and Lacey. After graduation from Smith College in western Massachusetts she returned to the Pacific NW to work on Initiative 120, a number of local city council campaigns, and for the Women's Political Caucus. BrynDel joined the staff of King County Councilmember Larry Phillips doing external relations in the district before serving as Chief of Staff. At King County, she worked on numerous regional growth management, water quality, parks, open space and environmental issues as well as annual review of the King County budget. She is looking forward to working for Debora Juarez and District 5!

Murphy grew up in Bothell, Washington and is a lifelong Washington resident. He recently graduated from the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance with his Masters in Public Administration.

At the Evans School he served in student government and after noticing a need for students to learn about tribal governance organized a Tribal Governance and Policy panel focusing on equity and inclusion in local government. Murphy is an Eagle Scout and has spent five summers working as camp staff and supporting youth programs at local camps. Outside of work he spends his time keeping up with superhero films and television and finding new board games to try. He is excited to join Councilmember Juarez's team and work for D5!

Sarah Mayes is the Senior Policy Advisor to Council President Debora Juarez. She clerks the Governance, Native Communities, and Tribal Governments Committee. She also covers issues related to police accountability, public safety, labor relations, public assets, and renters’ rights. Previously, she worked as the Policy Analyst for Seattle’s Community Police Commission.

Sarah received her B.A. from Reed College, where her studies focused on diplomatic history and political science. She has worked in the legislative offices of Seattle City Councilmember Kirsten Harris-Talley, Portland Metro Councilor David Bragdon, U.S. Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), and U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR). She also worked several years in academic and law libraries, and started two small businesses based in District 5. 

Sarah has proudly raised two children in D5, where she has been a renter for over sixteen years. She is an outspoken advocate for transgender rights, and is enthusiastic about the performing arts. Sarah is inspired by the leadership of Council President Juarez, and she’s excited to serve the district we call home.
