About the Cultural Overlay District Advisory Committee (CODAC)
- CODAC is a volunteer advisory committee charged with making recommendations to the Seattle City Council by September of 2008.
- Goal is to devise creative ideas for long-term promotion and preservation of cultural, arts, and entertainment activities and spaces in Seattle neighborhoods, then transform those ideas into recommendations the Council can consider implementing through ordinance and budget authority, beginning with Capitol Hill.
- Members include neighborhood residents, business owners, property owners, developers, legal and finance experts, and arts administrators. Each member expertise are listed after their name:
- Lund Consulting will manage & facilitate CODAC meetings, serve as CODAC liaison to City and Council staff, provide background information, document meetings & actions, and format final recommendations.
- City department staff (Dept. of Planning and Development & Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs) are invited to attend meetings and respond to consultant’s requests for information on behalf of CODAC.
- CODAC will collaborate with Capitol Hill Chamber of Commerce Sub-committee on Cultural Overlay District (SCOD), which will provide CODAC input and recommendations from neighborhood residents, artists and arts administrators, business owners, community organizers, and developers.
- CODAC will coordinate with City on changes it is proposing for the existing Pike-Pine Overlay District.
- In September of 2008, CODAC recommendations will be presented to Council during a joint meeting of its Planning, Land Use, and Neighborhoods (PLUNC) and Culture, Civil Rights, Health, and Personnel (CCRHP) committees and delivered to Executive shortly thereafter.
- CODAC members from the Central District and the Chinatown/International District are encouraged to share with their constituents the merits gleaned from their work on CODAC in considering a Cultural Overlay District for their communities.

Are you an artist or member of an arts-related group located in or around Capitol Hill or First Hill? CODAC wants to know so it can better develop its recommendations.
Send an email containing 'CODAC survey' in the subject line to chris.godwin@seattle.gov. Tell us your address and what kind of artist you are or arts group you represent.
And, by the way....
Anyone can ask questions of or provide comments to CODAC. Send a separate e-mail containing 'CODAC question' in the subject line to frank.video@seattle.gov.
We value your input and time. Really, we do.
