Vision

Provide consistent high level services which promote and strengthen a world class government prepared to meet the emerging needs of the 21st century. Ultimately, improving the quality of life for individuals (and the community at large) by being one of the top‐tier local government agencies in our nation and by building on our interdisciplinary strengths.

Mission

Foster civic education, participation, and openness in Seattle city government through effective facilitation of the legislative process and transparent, accountable stewardship of public information and official records.

The Office of the City Clerk maintains the City's official records, provides support for the City Council, and manages the City's historical records through the Seattle Municipal Archives. The Clerk's Office provides information services to the public and to City staff.
