Environmentally Critical Areas Update
Newly Adopted ECA Regulations
- New Geologic Hazard Areas (March 2007): This proposed update will designate the Seattle Fault Zone and areas of the city that are at risk from tsunamis, seiches, and lahars.
- 2006 ECA Ordinance Summary (April 2006): This document summarizes the key changes in the new ECA regulations.
- 2006 ECA Ordinance (March 2006): This update, adopted by the Council on March 27, 2006, represents the first major changes to these regulations since they were originally adopted in 1992. These changes became effective May 9th, 2006.
- Best Available Science Report (August 2005): This report provides a compilation and review of the best available scientific information that is applicable to Seattle and that has been considered in the proposed code update. See also the Wetland BAS from Washington State's Dept. of Ecology.
