Branch Equity Teams expand the reach of racial equity at Seattle Public Utilities

Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) supports Branch Equity Teams (BET’s) that work deep within and across the utility to support and embed racial equity, inclusion and belonging practices and initiatives. BET’s develop and carry out area specific work plans, collaborations, learnings, performance objectives, and celebrations of achievements.

BET’s are sponsored by Utility leadership to ensure teams have what they need to put their plans into action. These and other SPU race and social justice efforts build upon decades of equity work at Seattle Public Utilities.

Branch Equity Teams

  • Connect leadership to racial equity work
  • Improve access to services and programs
  • Set race and social justice training plans
  • Participate in and review hiring processes
  • Identify opportunities to apply the SPU Equity Toolkit (PDF)
  • Improve Women and Minority Business Enterprise (WMBE) inclusion
