Longfellow Creek Bridge Replacement

Updated: February 13, 2024

Early 2024

This project's scope is to replace the old wooden bridge that failed in Fall 2020, with a new steel truss bridge that will last much longer and be easier to maintain. The original bridge was struck by a fallen tree, which caused it to fail structurally and partially fall into the creek. We have successfully obtained the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife’s - HPA over water crossing permitting. The bridge is currently under internal design review as well as undergoing the Seattle Department of Construction & Inspections (SDCI) permit approval process. View the plan drawing of the Longfellow Creek Truss Bridge here.

Due to new design criteria, identifying local vendors who can provide pricing and delivery has delayed the 90% design submission of this project. Our goal is to have a final design approved before the end of the month and begin the replacement as soon as the SDCI approves this design. We are targeting to have the bridge in place before the end of April, with only the bridge approaches left to complete. This project will be completed by SPR's in-house staff.

This project was originally delayed and because of the more recently added permitting requirements. However, we have had to adjust our schedule significantly due to the permitting levels required by the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife and SDCI.
